FAQs
1
Who is tutoring best suited for?
Helix Learning supports primary school students who need targeted support in reading — whether they are below benchmark, lacking confidence, or not progressing as expected. It is also suitable for students who are on level but would benefit from strengthening specific reading strands such as decoding, fluency or comprehension.
2
How do you assess my child’s reading ability?
Every student begins with an initial reading assessment. This allows us to identify strengths and gaps across key strands including phonics, fluency, vocabulary and comprehension. From there, a targeted teaching plan is created. Progress is monitored regularly and adjusted as needed — tutoring is never random or generic.
3
What makes Helix Learning different from other tutoring programs?
Helix Learning follows a structured, research-informed approach aligned with the Science of Reading. Sessions are explicit, targeted and responsive to your child’s needs. This is not worksheet-based tutoring or one-size-fits-all programs. Each lesson builds deliberately on the last, following our Assessment → Teaching → Review cycle to ensure steady growth.
4
How is progress tracked and communicated?
Student progress is monitored through ongoing assessment, observation and skill tracking. Parents receive regular updates outlining growth areas, current focus strands and next steps. Communication is clear and consistent so you will always know how your child is progressing.
